Hanna al-Khell was born in 1896 in Nazareth where he spent his childhood. He moved to Haifa to study music and then joined the priesthood as a young man. Al-Khell immersed himself in the study of music in Bethlehem to become a professional composer and skilled conductor of the brass ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He composed piano pieces that were broadcast on the Near East Broadcasting Station from Jaffa, and he was also a professional organist and conductor. Many of his musical compositions are significant for their harmony and compelling vocals, including Maria<\/em>, composed in 1924. Al-Khell also wrote various \u201cfugues\u201d, an important form in the Baroque period using interwoven polyphonic musical textures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
